Modeling Reflectarray Unit Cell under Oblique Incidence

A reflectarray antenna features a low profile, low cost, easy fabrication, is able to achieve high gain or even beam switching, and therefore has been a popular research topic. However, it usually requires a lot of time designing a full array, where a lot of non-ideal effects, including oblique incidence, should be carefully dealt with. With the understanding of the oblique incidence, the design process can be sped up by applying reasonable adjustments.

A 1-bit Beam Steering Pin-Diode loaded Transmitarray

Transmitarray is consist of many unit antenna. Each antenna contributes different phase delay so that the incident wave passing through the transmitarray can be guided to desire beam direction. Phase delay is usually realized by changing physical characteristics of antenna, which cause the beam direction is not tunable. We are studying in using varactor like diode to generate 1-bit phase delay in order to let beam direction become tunable.
