Shih-Yuan Chen was born in Changhua, Taiwan in May 1978. He received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering in 2000, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in communication engineering in 2002 and 2005, respectively, all from the National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan.
From 2005 to 2006, Dr. Chen had been a post doctorate research fellow with the Graduate Institute of Communication Engineering (GICE), NTU. Since 2006, he joined the faculty of the Department of Electrical Engineering and GICE, NTU, where he is currently a professor. Dr. Chen had visited the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Michigan State University from 2008 to 2009, and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Los Angeles, from August 2023 to July 2024. His current research interests include the design and analysis of multiferroic antennas, reconfigurable antennas, phased arrays, reflectarrays, transmitarrays, cryogenic microwave circuits for spin-based quantum computing, and microwave imaging.
Dr. Chen received the NTU Outstanding Mentoring Award in 2020, the NTU Excellent Teaching Awards in 2009, 2010, 2012-2015, and 2021-2023. He also received the 2012 International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation Young Scientist Travel Grant, the 2013/2014 Top 10 Reviewers of IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, the Ministry of Science and Technology Research Projects for Excellent Young Scholars in 2012, 2015, and 2017, and the Outstanding Associate Editor of IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters in 2020. He is a member of the Education Committee of IEEE AP society and was an Associate Editor of IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters and Chairperson of IEEE AP-S Taipei Chapter. Dr. Chen is a Senior Member of the IEEE, Member of IET, and a member of Commission B of URSI.

PhD Students
Reserches: Antenna array, Polarizer.
After two years of preparatory classes on Reunion island, Robin followed a dual-degree program in Electrical Engineering and received both a French M.S. from INP-ENSEEIHT, Toulouse, in 2016 and a Taiwanese M.S. from NTU, Taipei, in 2017. He is currently working towards a Ph.D. degree at the AAL, NTU GICE, on beam-forming arrays for 5G/B5G applications. His research covered metasurfaces and slot antennas but recently focuses on composite right-/left-handed cells, phase inverters, beamforming networks along with circularly polarized leaky-wave antennas.

Hsiu-Ping Liao received his BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Dayeh University in 2015 and 2017, respectively. Sheng-Wei was born in Taipei, Taiwan. He received the B.S. degree in electronic engineering from National Taipei University of Technology, Taipei, Taiwan, in 2016, and the M.S degree in electronic engineering from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taipei, Taiwan, in 2018. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree from the Graduate Institute of Communication Engineering, National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan.
His research interests include beamforming networks, phased arrays, microwave circuits, and integrated passive devices (IPD). He is currently developing beam switching antenna module for full horizontal plane coverage.(LinkedIn)

Rui-Fu Xu was born in Tainan, Taiwan, in 1994. He received his B.S. degree in electrical engineering in 2016 and his M.S. degree in communication engineering in 2019, both from National Taiwan University (NTU), Taipei, Taiwan. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. degree in communication engineering at NTU.
In 2016, he served as a Hardware Validation Intern at Intel Taiwan for one year. From 2019 to 2020, he worked as a Research Assistant at the Research Center for Applied Sciences, Academia Sinica, focusing on computational modeling of nanoelectronics and emerging materials under the mentorship of Prof. Chao-Cheng Kaun. During his graduate studies at NTU, he managed the microwave anechoic chamber, enabling multi-user antenna measurements. His research interests include multiferroic antennas, antenna miniaturization, mechanical antennas, and piezoelectric MEMS.
In 2024, Mr. Xu was awarded the Technology Award by the Hon Hai (Foxconn) Education Foundation for his research contributions. He has also demonstrated leadership as Chair of the IEEE NTU Student Branch and President of the Graduate Student Association at NTU.
Yun-Ting received her BS degree from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology in Electrical Engineering. She is currently researching polarization reconfigurable circularly polarized antenna for low earth orbit satellite. In her leisure time, she is interested in practicing martial art.

Bing-Jia Chen received his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University (NTU). His research interests cover simultaneously reflected and transmitted reconfigurable arrays. He is also a research assistant at Academia Sinica. The research topic is about RIS-assisted system and half/full duplex FD relay in 6G communication.
