Education

Biography

Shih-Yuan Chen was born in Changhua, Taiwan in May 1978. He received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering in 2000, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in communication engineering in 2002 and 2005, respectively, all from the National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan.

From 2005 to 2006, Dr. Chen had been a post-doctorate research fellow with the Graduate Institute of Communication Engineering, National Taiwan University, working on 60-GHz switched-beam circularly-polarized antenna module. In July 2006, he joined the faculty of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Graduate Institute of Communication Engineering, National Taiwan University, where he is currently a professor. From August 2008 to July 2009, Dr. Chen had visited the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI, USA. His current research interests include the design and analysis of electrically small antennas, reconfigurable antennas, phased arrays, reflectarrays, transmitarrays, cryogenic microwave circuits for electron-spin-based quantum computing, and microwave imaging.

Dr. Chen received the NTU Outstanding Mentoring Award in 2020, the NTU Excellent Teaching Awards in 2009, 2010, 2012-2015, and 2021-2023. He also received the 2012 International Symposium on Antennas and Propagation Young Scientist Travel Grant, the 2013/2014 Top 10 Reviewers of IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation, the Ministry of Science and Technology Research Projects for Excellent Young Scholars in 2012, 2015, and 2017, and the Outstanding Associate Editor of IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters in 2020. He serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation and is a member of the Education Committee of IEEE AP society. He was an Associate Editor of IEEE Antennas and Wireless Propagation Letters and Chairperson of IEEE AP-S Taipei Chapter. Dr. Chen is a Senior Member of the IEEE, Member of IET, and a member of Commission B of URSI.

Deng-Yin Wang (王登胤)

Robin Jeanty (簡羅斌)

After two years of preparatory classes on Reunion island, Robin followed a dual-degree program in Electrical Engineering and received both a French M.S. from INP-ENSEEIHT, Toulouse, in 2016 and a Taiwanese M.S. from NTU, Taipei, in 2017. He is currently working towards a Ph.D. degree at the AAL, NTU GICE, on beam-forming arrays for 5G/B5G applications. His research covered metasurfaces and slot antennas but recently focuses on composite right-/left-handed cells, phase inverters, beamforming networks along with circularly polarized leaky-wave antennas.

Hsiu-Ping Liao (廖修平)

Hsiu-Ping Liao received his BS and MS degrees in Electrical Engineering from Dayeh University in 2015 and 2017, respectively. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. Degree with Graduate Institute of Communication Engineering (GICE), National Taiwan University (NTU). His current research interests include wideband antennas, metasurfaces, as well as reconfigurable antenna arrays based on liquid crystal display process.

Sheng-Wei Wu (吳聖偉)

Sheng-Wei was born in Taipei, Taiwan. He received the B.S. degree in electronic engineering from National Taipei University of Technology, Taipei, Taiwan, in 2016,  and the M.S degree in electronic engineering from National Taiwan University of Science and Technology, Taipei, Taiwan, in 2018. He is currently pursuing the Ph.D. degree from the Graduate Institute of Communication Engineering, National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan. 

His research interests include beamforming networks, phased arrays, microwave circuits, and integrated passive devices (IPD). He is currently developing beam switching antenna module for full horizontal plane coverage.(LinkedIn)

Ian finished his undergraduate studies at University of Michigan in Mechanical Engineering. He is currently researching the integration & characterization of ESR control and the control & readout RF circuitries for spin-based qubits. Louis-Charles Ippet-Letembet (程博文)

Louis-Charles received his master degree from INP ENSEEIHT and National Taiwan University. He’s currently conducting a PHD thesis on the analysis and synthesis of magnetostrictive antennas. His hobbies are reading books about economic anthropology, watching movies and traveling. (LinkedIn)

Rui-Fu Xu (許瑞福)

Rui-Fu Xu received the BS degree in electrical engineering in 2016, and the M.S. degrees in communication engineering in 2019, respectively, both from the National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan. His research interest include antenna miniaturization, multiferroic antenna, mechanical antenna and RF MEMS. He is currently developing agile polarization control of multiferroic antenna. In leisure time, he loves jogging and watching movies. 

In addition to academic research, he is also active in promoting and improving higher education environment in Taiwan, such as PhD salary institutionalization. He used to be the President of Graduate Student Association of NTU and Chair of IEEE NTU Student Branch.

Saurav Dangar (唐松若)

Saurav Dangar received his B.Tech. in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from KIIT University, India. He is currently pursuing his master's degree at National Taiwan University and sponsored by Taiwan's Ministry of Education Scholarship. His research interest covers phased array antennas and metamaterials. He is currently developing a wide-angle scanning antenna array. Bing-Jia Chen (陳秉嘉)

Bing-Jia Chen received his BS degree in Electrical Engineering from National Taiwan University (NTU). His research interests cover simultaneously reflected and transmitted reconfigurable arrays. He is also a research assistant at Academia Sinica. The research topic is about RIS-assisted system and half/full duplex FD relay in 6G communication.
